It used to be quite popular to sh*t on Claude Code (flickering etc). But it's really a good harness now imo. I have no more flickering, it "just works" with those Claude models. And now it's getting that new "mods" feature which makes it extremely extensible and customizable. I still do also use Pi (and also grok build - it's a good harness, too!). All in herdr. But Claude Code has definitely moved up from my least favorite to one of my preferred ones.

Claude Modsが出ましたね！！ 最初、hookと何違うんだと思ったのですが、テトリス意味わからん、と思っていたら以下が違いです。 m -rfを禁止する（削除コマンド）とかならこれはHooksで十分。(PreToolUse Hook) Claude Codeのdiff表示そのものを改造するとかですかね。独自UIを追加とか（テトリスみたいな） とはいえ、あまり使い道が思いつかないです。 ただ、１つやってみたいのは好きなキャラクターに話させるとかをやるのは面白いですね。（なんかいろいろできそうかも？）

@AnthropicAI just shipped function hooks for Claude. Read the changes, and I'm pretty sure I can make this plugin render these graphs on any terminal now with a simple change. Right now these work on kitty/ghostty only because, those are the only terminals that support the placeholder characters I'm using to reserve space for the images.

Anthropic is shipping a real plugin system for Claude Code. They're calling it Claude Mods, it lands on a scale of weeks, and it already runs today behind a flag. A mod is a small piece of code that sits between Claude and everything it does. Your code gets the action before it happens and decides: let it through, change it, refuse it, or answer it yourself. That reaches about 85 points in the engine, covering permissions, shell commands, file access, what goes into the model's context, delegation, cost and drawing in the terminal. The first thing anyone built with it was an arcade. Eight playable games above the prompt, zero tokens. Funny, and also the only proof that mattered. everyone's excited about Claude Mods after Boris said they're landing now, and yeah the tetris one in the issue thread is pretty fun :P is it because they removed the 50% more usage? like pizza party by hrs? :P but I checked before trying it tonight. 2.1.271 just dropped and the changelog doesn't mention mods at all, the issue thread still has them behind CLAUDE_CODE_ENABLE_FUNCTION_HOOKS=1, and the README tells you to run `claude plugin test` which isn't in my CLI yet, the list stops at validate. so I think it's landing soon, not landed. has anyone actually got one running without the flag?

The Tetris demo is fun. The harder product is what happens after the mod ships. Once Claude can generate software people depend on, regressions, provenance, and rollback stop being edge cases.

This will be a bigger deal than a new model release. It's called Function Hooks, branded as Claude Mods. Here's what it actually means. Today, you can extend Claude Code with basic hooks. Small shell scripts that run at fixed moments. Before a tool runs. After a session starts. That's it. They are limited, and on Windows they often break in weird ways. Function Hooks change that completely. Now a plugin is a real function that can sit inside almost anything Claude Code does. It can watch a tool call, block it, rewrite it, or let it pass through to the next plugin. Think of it like middleware, the same pattern used in web servers like Express. This unlocks real things: – Hide secrets from the AI before it ever reads them – Block a dangerous action for real, not just hope the AI follows a written rule – Build actual interfaces (someone already made Tetris) – Let admins control exactly what plugins are allowed to touch The comment section on the GitHub issue is not hype. It's a live audit. Engineers grabbed the early build and started trying to break it on purpose: – They made a hook hang, to see what happens on timeout. It failed silently, and the risky action ran anyway – They blocked a file write. The AI just picked a different tool and wrote it anyway, because the block gave it no reason. – They ran the safety checker on broken code. It said "all good" when it wasn't. This is a group of production users doing security testing for free, before the feature even ships, because they plan to run this in real systems with real stakes.
